Korea Soars with Confidence with RedPrairie

Six months down the road after the implementation of RedPrairie in Amway Korea Limited, and the team has been progressing steadily. As of the end of May, Amway Korea Limited (AKL) has processed more than 1.8mil cartons since RedPrairie went live in January 2017.

APAC Operations Director Hwan-Kook Yoo, fondly known as HK, said that he is happy with how the right Warehouse Management System (WMS) could have such a profound effect on Amway business and deliver important benefits.

“When we were told about RedPrairie, the first thing that came into our mind is the team’s reaction. The Korea team had a high level of familiarity and comfort with AS400, so embarking on something new was a challenge.”

“However, the decision to deploy RedPrairie as a new warehouse management system for Amway supply chain globally was timely. In Korea, we continually face overwhelming ABO orders, and RedPrairie helps us to achieve better efficiency and productivity, which is important in fulfilling our ABO orders,” said HK.

Korea’s Operation Strategic Planner, Seon-Im Kang (Clara) seconds HK’s opinion on how RedPrairie has slowly changed Korea’s supply chain operations. Clara was in particular impressed with how RedPrairie provides transparency and visibility while helping the team to make the best use of their available resources without wasting efforts. In fact, RedPrairie provided the team visibility into inventory usage and on hand balances, leading to better planning, and reducing lead time and costs of excess inventory.

“At the very beginning, it was an on-going process of learning and the team faced some challenges throughout the transition period. But, every cloud has a silver lining. We knew that this is the global direction and we changed our perspective and eventually, we realized the true benefits of RedPrairie,” said Clara.

“RedPrairie has greatly contributed to where we are today, thanks to the team who have worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth transition. This experience provided us an opportunity to discover RedPrairie’s potential and we couldn’t have done it without the help of the wonderful BSI team, COE, Regional IT and of course AKL IT,” she concluded.

Korea was the 3rd market in Asia Pacific to implement RedPrairie after a successful implementation in Philippines and Indonesia.
